Dr. Michael Köberlein represents as director the Heinrich Böll Foundation in India since December 2006.
Before, he headed the branch office of Heidelberg University in Delhi from 2004 to 2006.

In 2004 he was a member of the conference secretariat of the “Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit” (GTZ) to organize the “Renewables 2004” (Conference for Renewable Energies) in Bonn.

Michael Köberlein holds an MA in Geography from Bamberg University, Germany, and a PhD from the South Asia Institute of the University of Heidelberg.

He studied in 1995/96 at the Delhi School of Economics and has gained comprehensive experience in India through internships, field surveys and as facilitator of joint research projects.

His expertise is in climate change issues, development policies and urban poverty
