- When thinking of today’s India, it is impossible not to think of Dalits. And yet, they are ‘the other India’. Not a single week or a fortnight passes in India, without the newspapers carrying stories of how Dalits are forced to carry and eat excreta, how their property is destroyed, their huts burnt down and dalit women subjected to violent sexual abuse. And yet, there is no media to register the voice of Dalits; there is not one accredited Dalit journalist in Delhi, the capital of India.
