   Centre for Science and Environment

The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is an independent, public interest organisation which aims to increase public awareness on science, technology, environment and development. The Centre was set-up in 1980 and is presently headed by Ms Sunita Narain.

For more than two decades, CSE has been creating awareness about the environmental challenges India is confronted with. CSE is searching for solutions that people and communities can implement themselves, inspiring people to take actions and pushing the government to create regulations and framework conditions for people and communities to act on their own.

Some of the programmes and units of CSE are intensely taking up challenges of curbing air pollution, reviving traditional water harvesting systems as a solution of water shortage, especially for drought prone areas, environmental education for an array of stakeholders such as planners and administrators, and conducts research and advocacy on industrial pollution.
