Centre for Study of Society and Secularism

The Centre for Study of Society and Secularism (CSSS) was set up in the year 1993 in Mumbai. It was established by Dr Asghar Ali Engineer who is also the present director.

The main objective of CSSS is to spread the spirit of secularism, communal harmony and social peace and to organize inter-religious and ethnic dialogues. The CSSS is undertaking study-research projects in the field of religious, communal and ethnic conflicts and on comparative religions. Their activities also include organising seminars, workshops and inter-faith discussions. Moreover, CSSS publishes a quarterly journal ‘The Indian Journal on Secularism’ and a fortnightly ‘Secular Perspective’.
