Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy

Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) is the first Tibetan non-governmental human rights organization to be established in India. It was founded in 1996 and is presently headed by Mr. Urgen Tenzin.

TCHRD mission is to promote and protect human rights of the Tibetan people in Tibet and to educate the exile Tibetan community on human rights principles and democratic concepts. TCHRD conducts regular, systematic investigation of the human rights situation in Tibet and publishes the results in an annual report as well as in more specific topical reports. Moreover, TCHRD brings out monthly newsletters, press releases and news briefings.
